Researches In Shimingshuzhengbu (释名疏证补) Of Wangxianqian (王先谦)

This paper systematically summarizes Wang Xianqian's research in Shimingshuzhengbu (Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House, published in March 1984) from the perspective of interpretation of ancient texts. Most of the modern reserchers research on Wang Xianqian, the representative of Hunan culture, from the aspects of life, carved books, thoughts, politics and etc. but few focus on the systematical research from the perspective of interpretation of ancient texts. Shimingshuzhengbu is the best version of Shiming which as an originator sound exegesis. But even the relevant works are rarely mentioned about it. Therefore, it will be useful for the promotion of the studies of Huxiang cultural from a new perspective to reexamine exegesis Wang Xianqian research value. There are four chapters in this paper.Chapter I briefly introduces Wang Xianqian, the study history and the current status of Shimingshuzhengbu; and also bring forward the object, tasks and meaning of this topic. And then briefly introduces the research into Etymology and the research background.Chapter II analyze and summarize the added collations and supplementary notes by Wang Xianqian in Shimingshuzhengbu. By analyzing the forms and contents of the added collations and supplementary notes, the research methods and results of wang xianqian will be disscussed preliminaryChapter III is based on two types of homologous words which are the new conjunction with the different physical vocabulary-homologous and homology of different words in the Shimingshuzhengbu written by WangXianqian. His achievements and contributions will be studied from the perspective of the new interpretation of ancient texts and etymological theory point of view。Chapter IV summarize the value of the added collations and supplementary notes, analyzes the research limitations of Wang Xianqian in Shimingshuzhengbu because of the historical limitations in the development of the linguistics.At the last, this paper summarizes the value of this topic in Chinese etymology. Wang Xianqian use of the traditional exegesis of the theory of the shiming in the careful proofreading of the added collations and supplementary notes in Shimingshuzhengbu. Sounds and meaning through the use of the Qing Dynasty and so on, to seize the shiming explore the unique characteristics of the source language, cognate Linking to make some contribution.
