| Xu Shen, a famous scholar in Eastern Han Dynasty, proposed systematically about Chinese character word-formation configuration theory-----"the six categories of characters" in his book Shuowen Jiezi. Which was refers to six word-formation configurations, namely, "pictographic characters of pictographs, self-explanatory characters, associative compound characters, pictophonetic characters, borrow and mutually explanatory Chinese characters." Henceforth, the analyzing and discriminating around "six categories of characters" became a focal point in the field of linguistics, philology and exegesis, kinds of work and theory were promoted one after another, which has vigorously promoted the Chinese character researching and development. However, similarly take the Chinese characters research as focus, the study in "six categories of characters" were very few in the Chinese logo design domain, lacking for systematically judgment. This thesis mainly talk about how to draw lessons form the linguistics, philology and exegesis's ancient texts achievements, applying the outstanding Chinese traditional culture into the modern Chinese character logo design, pushing the development and creating a road that both own the Chinese characteristic and national characteristics.This article takes Shuowen Jiezi's "six categories of characters" as the object of study, setting about it from the overall understanding of Shuowen Jiezi, by means of analyzing and unscrambling the "six categories of characters" to expound that Ancient Chinese Characters word-formation configuration rule and the inner link of modern Chinese character logo design. This article also unscrambles and analyzes the abundant instances of Chinese character logos, inquiring into the application condition and achievements since the "six categories of characters" were being used in the modern Chinese character logo design. In addition, deducing the universal rule of Chinese character logo configuration from the word-formation configuration's rule may supply to use for reference. Based on the points all above, then from the view of probing cultural text to further unscramble and understand the substantive characteristics of Chinese character, as well as the Eastern thinking modes which Chinese character concealed and the cultural connotation which Chinese character carried. And researching the present value of "six categories of characters" from cultural stratification plane and exploring the influence of "six categories of characters" on modern Chinese character logo design, unscrambling the profound meaning and enlightenment.On the aspect of study methods, thesis prefers the historical study method and comparative method to the traditional methods which only focus on "textual criticism" and "proof". The former based on a dialectical way of thinking and meaning put the research into practice while the later always choosing the traditional China Studies'style of thinking, dwelling on some single issue truth or falsification. |
