As the most important prehistoric cultural heritage, ancient painted pottery play an essential part in the development of Chinese art, which also shaped the basic foundation of Chinese art, some extent and caught the scholars' attention. Until now, there are a lot of articles and books on the ancient painted pottery. However, some scholars treated ancient painted pottery as a kind of culture, or research it in the perspective of art and archeology, or regard it as fancy folk-crafts of art. There are seldom researches about decorative, which is the inscape of ancient painted pottery. The study on the aesthetic value of decorative has been especially limited. That breaks the balance between its achievement of ancient painted pottery exhumation and its impact. Therefore, this dissertation, beginning with decorative ancient painted pottery, unscrambles its cultural connotations, in order to find its aesthetics discipline, and then finds out the aesthetic consciousness of ancestors.In the Introduction, the author emphasizes on the selected topic and significance of her dissertation, and the description of situation of study both here and abroad. The author points out her own ideas and methods about this article. The author expects the readers could understand the basic framework of it.The first segment is decorative of ancient painted pottery panorama, the author put emphasis on the origin, classification, inscape and form rules of decorative, and also tries to inquire the concept of decorative through case analysis.The second segment is decorative of ancient painted pottery and archaic thinking, which pays close attention to find out how the decorative reflect prehistoric society, for example, the religious emotions, generation adoration, etc.The third segment is decorative of ancient painted pottery and Chinese prehistoric aesthetic consciousness, which is the main part of this dissertation. The author finds the aesthetic rules according to development of decorative, explores the aesthetic sense of prehistoric China.The last part is the conclusion. The author has a shot at how the decorative of ancient painted pottery gives the positive impact on Chinese art, especially the line and enjoyable feature of Chinese painting. The author intends to represent the consequence that decorative has effects on Chinese aesthetic consciousness.
