100:2: One Hundred Years And Shot/Reverse Shot

As a unique way of expression, shot/reverse shot has been widely used in the film history, while the theory field on the systematic study of this formulation is still scarce. In this paper, shot/reverse shot was investigated to that in three parts.The first part combed the creation and the development of shot/reverse shot; the second part concerned the analysis of classic text and tries to clarify the formulation of the shot/reverse shot; the third part, discussed the deformation and displacement of shot/reverse shot.Shot/reverse shot is not only a unique way of expression, but also features of the film's unique style. To discuss the shot/reverse shot systematically, on the one hand, is for clarify the significance of shot/reverse shot in the long history; on the other, is to touch the essence of film art itself.
