Yang Wanli is a famous writer in the Southern Song Dynasty whom has many aspects of achievements. In addition to his poetry's achievements, his proses are also quite accomplished. At present, academic circles have done many studies into his pomes, but few researchers concerned about his proses. Therefore, the author chooses the Ji proses of Yang Wanli for study, and tries to systematic and in-depth study of its contents and artistic characteristics. By doing this we could know something about the proses of Yang Wanli. The main contents in this thesis are the follows:Chapter one analyzes the writing stage of the Ji proses of Yang Wanli. According to the situation of the Ji proses and combining with the official career of Yang Wanli, this paper divides his Ji proses into three stages, namely, the beginning of his official career, the middle and later period of his official career, the retired period. In the first stage, Yang Wanli actively faces the social reality and the nature, so he expresses his political ideas, social ethics, and natural landscape freely in the Ji proses. These proses are both ideologically and artistically. In the second stage, Yang Wanli has a deeper understanding of the society, so the Ji proses have more profound content, stronger social criticism, denser moralization, and so on. The artistic of these proses is lower than those which in the first stage. The last stage is the most concentrated period of writing Ji proses for Yang Wanli. The content and the style of these proses are diverse, and they reflect Yang's all aspects of mentality about his retirement.Chapter two analyzes the categories and content of the Ji proses. According to the traditional classification and the content of the Ji proses, this chapter divided Yang's Ji proses into four types which are about pavilions and halls; about leaning; about temples and about others. Overall, the main content of the Ji proses is about politics, social reality, School Tradition and so on. They have strongly realistic style. Meanwhile, the Neo identity makes Yang to expound Confucian ideals and moral philosophy in his proses. There are also some proses talks about the spices of life, which reflect Yang's exploring of the spirituality and the free life.Chapter three analyzes the artistic characteristics of the Ji proses, According to the Literature Thought of the Southern Song Dynasty. This paper points out that the Ji proses of Yang Wanli attach importance to the grammar, but not get into a rut. Yang is good at absorbing the articles arts of others, and formed his own style which accords with the aesthetic thoughts of the Southern Song Dynasty. There are many artistic characteristics about the Ji proses, such as the fresh and unconventional conceptions, the flexible structures, getting variety of performance skills into the expression; natural and fancy linguistic style, etc. These characteristics come from the famous writers of Northern Song Dynasty, and give expression to the independent thinking and exploration of Yang Wanli.Chapter four sum up the overall style and features of the Ji proses. This paper argues that the Ji proses totality like the proses of Tang and Song Dynasties, and get profound impact from the Neo-Confucianism. He writes the proses with "Qi", and combining the morality with the literature, which show us a tendency that he will combine the classical proses with the Neo-Confucianism. The drawback is that some of the articles are too much homiletic, and some of them give people a sense of long-winded. However, the number of these articles is small, so it couldn't affect the general features of the of Yang's Ji proses.
