This paper elaborates on the concept that the sculpture must have a strong sense of space. On the basis of the entity, Statuary space may be divided into four parts, real space, virtual space, physical space, and psychological space. That three-dimensional art form can felt by visual, tactile, auditory, and psychological. Statuary space is an important field for both traditional sculpture and modern sculpture, and also, it is a basic Statuary language and an important Creation way, So that we call sculpture is a space art.This thesis is composed of several parts. First of all, Looking at the history of sculpture, we can find, the enriching and developing way of sculpture techniques and forms greatly enriched the expansion of sculpture space. It is a long and hard history for Sculptor cognition for space, which depends on the Sculptor's re-found and re-cognitive of shape and space again and again. Furthermore, Movement direction is an important way that developed the sculpture space. Finally, Based on the changes of Sculpture Material, Color, subject and environmental, we can conclude that, During survival and artistic practice, people gradually comprehend that the importance of the space, understand its performance, and feeling beauty of material skin's texture.The history of Sculpture space exploration can be divided into three periods, Period of the Western tradition, Period of the Western modern times, Period of post-modernism. In the human culture history, we can see that sculpture develop with the development of human social civilization. The purpose of our analysis to the Statuary space is ultimately confirming the core status of the space in the in different times. Concerned about the contemporary, concern about life, can we pass and update our traditional Statuary taste culture as any past era.
