Thoughts Caused By The Film Posters Award Conducted By "Premiere" Magazine

Content:Information age brings us several resources conveniently, among which, using image form is a more convenient way for us to accept. This article is just based on a set of thoughts of one ordinary aesthetic act launched by the most famous movie magazine "Premiere", aiming to pick out best movie posters ever since the century began. Some doubts on how to judge those posters come out like:how did those visual works be judged in this image era? Which posters can achieve the best comments? How the judges estimate those works? Etc. So the research object is the so-called "best" posters. By the reason of their special function, movie poster covers both idiosyncrasy of advertisement and art; best embodies the characteristics of graphic design with superior purpose and directionality. Therefore, the selected movie posters as a starting point, the purpose is to first understand the background of the design, expression and technique, explore posters category which are more worthy of our attention; Then is to study the signification of these case posters and sources of designers'creative ideas; And thus to analyze the elements of successful design which will provide reference material for the future design.The whole article is in accordance with logic form as "finding problems-Analyzing the problems-solving the problems-sum up". The analysis method is not simply study a single element which can produce the so-called "best" design with my subjective opinion, but focus on a basic reference (which has been considered to be the "best" design) to make an objective analysis by the help of Iconography. Then it comes the macro-comparative analysis standing outside of the object to explore the influence brought up by time factor and cultural background. This article, its significance lies in the more comprehensive understanding about images, enhanced ability to see the visual images, understanding what image communicate and how they make it, even how the significance dissipate during the readers'interpretation. The article finally concludes the design trend from a development perspective, and some feasible suggestions on the domestic movie poster design considering the present situation.
