Yu Tawei And The National Government's Armory Construction (1933-1945)

Yu Tawei, an important figure in China's weapon development, is the administrator of War Industry Bureau in the National Government from 1933 to 1945, who has led the comprehensive construction of the National Government's war industry. Starting with the strategic adjustment, management measures and the personnel strategies Yu Tawei has taken in the National Government's war industry, this thesis does a systematic and tridimensional research on the Yu-led armory construction with detailed historical materials and reveals the basic development of the National Government's war industry during this period. In the process of Yu's leading the construction of war industry, he upholds to output in the war time, to change the basic manufacture pattern, to develop scientific researches on war industry, and cultivate talents on this area, which to some extent has promoted the modernization of the war industry in China. In accordance to the Marxist materialist conception of history, this thesis has made a practical, comprehensive and objective assessment on Yu's deeds in the National Government's armory construction, which has approved his accomplishments and contributions, while also points out the limitations.
