The dialect of Laiwu belongs to Liaotai part of Jilu Mandarin,which not only has the general characteristics of Jilu Mandarin, but will also have some unique features.There are a history of two thousand years to research on Shandong dialects.From last century,we began to research on Shandong dialects using mordern Phonetics methods.Now,there are a lot of materials about Shandong dialects of high qulality. Therefore,there are still some problems,for example,it contains many characteristics but without deep research.So,this paper not only makes a comprehensive research but also has a deep research on some special sound phenomena.This paper takes the north of this city for present and makes a study of the sound system of Laiwu dialect,it also make deep research on the sound Ri intial of zhi rhyme category and varied patterns of suffix "儿" and "子".This paper has five chapters.Chapter one makes an Introduction, which mainly describes the history,geography and the people and culture of Laiwu, and it also presents an overview of previous studies.Chapter two mainly describes the sound system of the dialect of Laiwu,it covers the tonal system,the initial system,the final system and the structure of syllables. Chapter three describes the internal different pronunciations between the old and the young,the literary and colloquial readings as well as different areas of this city,and analyzes the reasons of the differences.Chapter four analyzes some special sound phenomena in Laiwu dialect.it use the modern theory of phonetics to decide the sound of Ri intial unrounded division 3 of zhi rhyme category.it also analyzes the varied patterns of suffix "儿" and "子"Chapter five deals with the corresponding relationship accoding to guangyun phonological system.It also discusses some sound changes and historical develoments from middle chinese to the modern dialect.
