As one of ancient oasis with a long history and located in the southwest of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Khotan stands between Taklimakan Desert and Kunlun Mountains. Over 2000 years ago, Khotan was famous for its well-developed agriculture and animal husbandry and silk industry in the world and became main town in the south of the Silk Road. Throughout the history, it was not only a Buddhism Center of western region but a place affected by ancient Indian culture greatly where there were blend and integration of ancient Sogdian culture and Saka culture. After Karakhanid empire was established and conquered Khotan in about 1007, Buddhism of Khotan was replaced by Islamism and Khotanese was also replaced by Hakaniya Language of Karakhanids. However, Saka and more ancient Turkic elements as well as Uyghur of morphologic symbol different from others remained because of its location at the south edge of Taklimakan Desert, inconvenient traffic and traditional and stubborn personality of Khotan people.Khotan is the second big dialect of Uyghur language, people speaking Khotan dialect account for about 18.8% of Xinjiang Uyghur and mainly live in seven counties and one city of Khotan and Ruoqiang, Qarqan of Bayangol Mongol Autonomous Prefecture. The article tries to make comprehensive and systemized statement of pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar of Hakaniya Language retained in Khotan dialect by comparison of Khotan dialect and Hakaniya Language reflected from Diwanu Lughat-it Turk .The article makes classification, analysis and objective description of primary sources especially long materials and record materials acquired in field research by means of historical linguistics and descriptive linguistics and makes comprehensive classification and conclusion of all different ancient language elements retained in Khotan dialect based on detailed comparison with documentations.This paper consists of three sections including introduction, main text and conclusion.Introduction states the reasons to select topic, research value, current situation and means and explains phonetic and abbreviation symbols used in the article.The main text consists of four Chapters . chapter one, describes human geography, Khotan dialect and its research and introduces briefly about Karakhanids, Mahmud al-Kashgary and relevant Diwanu Lughat-it Turk..Chapter two, makes comparison and description of phonetic characteristics reflected from Khotan dialect and Diwanu Lughat-it Turk..Chapter three, mainly states and analyzes ancient Turkic and its evolvement of pronunciation and semantics retained in Khotan dialect.Chapter four, analyzes and describes morphological characteristics of Hakaniya Language retained in Khotan dialect by comparison of Khotan dialect and Diwanu Lughat-it Turk..The conclusion puts forward its innovation points, defects and future research thoughts.
