| Along with the speeding up of urban-rural integration Chinese Novel flourishes when rural cultures are met with urban cultures. The flourishing of Chinese local novel results from the contemporary novelists'spiritual dependence on land, countryside and hometown, and also from their resistance against their embarrassing experience of modern urban life. The different spiritual beliefs and life experience of exile, diaspora and return are responsible for the the contemporary novelists'different attitudes towards their homeland. Yang Huifen is one of the northeastern female novelists who linger between the rural and the urban. She used to be a peasant and worker, and now she is the editor of the magazine"Petrel"in Dalian. She depicts folk customs and local cultures incisively and vividly in the northern countryside where cultural collisions are taking place with her special sense on the local culture. So far she has achieved a lot. She has produced more than one hundred works and received many awards, such as the"Young Composer"Prize in the 3rd Young Composer Competition in Liaojing Province, the"outstanding Newcomer in Literature"prize in the 3rd Feng Mu Literature Award. She is also a member of the Chinese Writers Association.This paper elaborates and summarizes the novels that have been so far published in China by Yang Huifen systematically. It is divided into three parts via her rural-urban emotion trend.In the first part, the paper elaborates Yang's works on purpose, introducing the causes of her emotion lingering between the rural and the urban.In the second part, the paper discusses how this trend is represented in her works. It shows her emotions trends in the collision of the ideal and reality after intensive reading of her works.On the basis of the previous two parts, in the third part, from the point of view of her emotion trend between the rural and the urban, the paper elaborates how Yang explains the cultural collision between the rural and the urban, discovers the way to combine the ideal and reality and portrays the characters in the contradictions between the rural and the urban, showing her hope to make the two harmonious.
