With the post-war economic growth in Japan, people's life is increasingly affluent, and the overseas tourism booming all over the country, in this particular historical background, midfiction, the initiation of which concurrently absorbed the artistry of the pure literature and the interest of popular literature, is popular because of carting to the reader's needs. As the outstanding representative of the midfiction, the historical fictions of the Western Regions written by Inoue Yasushi reflected the cultural psychology demand of the numerous Japanese readers in that particular historical period.Being filled with the love of Chinese traditional culture and art, Inoue Yasushi revealed the unique connotation of the Western Regions'culture, leading the reader to the ancient infinite imagination. His historical novels of the Western Regions merged art with historical facts, as to a natural situation, which is convincing. Inoue Yasushi's Western historical novel of Western Regions gave the readers a kind of new history perspective, and showed them a great and intangible image with the conversion of nature, society and the fate of things, placing the transformation of characters and countries in the grand continuous historical spectacle, which reflected the beauty of mononoaware. So in the analysis of Inoue Yasushi's historical novels of the Western Regions, if the writers' creation intention and the cognition of the Western Regions'culture can be combined, the characters and the plots in Inoue Yasushi's novels can be grasped better. This thesis discussed Inoue Yasushi's cultural perspective of the Western Regions through the analysis of his historical novels, including The Lacquered Zun, Exotic People, LouLan, TunHuang and Aoki Ô Kami.This thesis includes three parts, which interprets several Western Region historical novels of Inoue Yasushi from the aspects of artistic features and cultural values, thus the significance and values of Inoue Yasushi's novels will be acknowledged. In the first part, through the analysis of several novels to explore the author's understands of the culture in Western Region and then to reach a conclusion of his culture cognition in Western Region and its value and significance in novel creation. In the second part, through the analysis of several main characters, found that the author stood in a certain historical height, giving the heroes in his novels specific historical mission, and created the unique historical novels. In the third part, evaluating the significance and values of Inoue Yasushi's cultural cognition of Western Region on the basis of his novels.
