An Analysis Of The Room Images In Chen Ran's Works

Chen Ran is a famous woman writer in 1990s and her works are mostly about women living conditions and the establishment of women's right of speech. When you read her writings carefully, you can find many room images there. This article attempts to study the women's world of space on the base of spatial relationship between the individual and existence. And this essay tries to analyze the room images and to sum up the cultural connotation in her works, which will be studied to elaborate the living conditions and consciousness of the contemporary urban women and thus from the opposite side to see the theme and ideals in women's literary creations and the innate relationship between the space image and women's writings as well.The first part of this article is to establish the women's spacious world presented in literary works and indicate the three kinds of women's living space according to the relationship between the individual and existence. The three kinds are: the women's real living space, the women's emotional space and the women's physical writing space. The second part focuses on the careful textual analysis of the room images in Chen's works. Firstly, to define the connotation of room images, and the second one is to explain the causes of the plenty presentations in her works, and finally the text falls on the conclusion of women's awareness and women's living conditions revealed in these images. The third part is about the further exploration of the innate relationship between the women's literary theme and women's living ideal based on the research of the images of rooms.
