Recalling the path taken by teaching Chinese as a second language, the textbooks that applied played an essential role at every stage. For all the learners, the quality of elementary comprehensive textbook which as a primary material carried the basic knowledge in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, has a great impact on each course of future study.Through the summary of documents on this field, the paper mainly discuss the following five aspects: concept of writing of book, texts, vocabulary, grammar, exercises between"Boya Chinese—elementary"and"development Chinese—elementary". The concept of writing a book influences every part of the book directly; which is the soul of the book. While texts, vocabulary, grammar, exercises are the bodies, the concrete parts. As for the main part of the book, contrast has been undertaken in elementary contents: themes and genres are considered in text comparison; vocabulary, grammar, exercises launched on quantitative as well as the difficulty respectively.Finally, based on a comparative research in the educational materials, and the theory of foreign language, some advises about writing idea, text, vocabulary, grammar, exercise have been put forward.
