Shiji is not only a Milestone of China's history, but also is a model of literary language in the Han Dynasty. Lu Xun evaluated it "song of historians, without rhyme of Lisao" Shiji links the pre-Qin and the Middle Ages under a special historical period, it provides a valuable corpus for the study of ancient Chinese vocabulary. Sima Qian drew a lot of idioms into the text from the folk spoken language and pre-Qin classics, so it is the special features of the language of Shiji. There are many idiomatic phrases in the Shiji, which involves six hundred articles and the type is rich, including idiom, proverb and saying and so on. Many idiomatic phrases of Shiji still are active in the modern Chinese vocabulary, which have a far-reaching influence. This article makes an overall study on the idiomatic phrase of Shiji by the methods which involve the quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis, the description and the explanation, the contact and the comparison. First, the author analyses the source of the different idiomatic phrase of Shiji; secondly, to excavate the cultural implication idiomatic phrase of Shiji; finally, for deepening the understanding of it to summarize the functions of it, The study of idiomatic Phrase of Shiji has some reference value, it may make our understand the Language feature of history books since Shiji, master the characteristics of ancient Chinese vocabulary, deepen understanding of the relationship between language and culture.
