The Study Of Idiomatic Phrase Of Modern Chinese

As the parallel saying of Chinese Xiehouyu and proverbs, idiomatic phrase play an important role in vocabulary unit. We didn't work at it until recent few years. It wasn't long before the term "idiomatic phrase" came into being. There are various definitions and even disagreements about the term. This essay put forward the analysis and comparison of "idiomatic phrase" as well as author's own view. In addition, in terms of the analysis of the basic features, we mainly cover three aspects: phonetics, semantics and internal structures of idioms. Besides, idiomatic phrase can be classified into several categories according to their sources, which also share some specific characters. For instance, some are commonly used, some are easy to understand, others are humors, vivid or concise. In the course of analyzing idioms, this essay employs the way of statistics and consults dictionary of contemporary idioms, so that we can give a brief account.
