Public Archaeology In Cultural Heritage Protection

The excavation,studying, management and protection of cultural heritage has always been the cause devoted by Chinese archeologist and concentrated by Chinese Archeology and Archeology Institutions. Now, being on the peak of rapid economy development and capital construction in our country, the unrenewable cultural heritage is under greater pressure than ever before. Consequently,there exsist difficult problems that how to protect cultural heritage effectively and use it sustainably puzzling Chinese Archeology. Improving the standards of Acheology and applying new technologies to Acheology only can protect cultural heritage in the aspect of technology, which can do nothing about resisting the man-made destroying. At present, absorbing the notion of Public Archeology gives us a new idea of protecting and a new solution.Emerged from the Western countries between 1960s and 1970s, being a branch of Acheology for concentrating on the management ang protection of cultural heritage,the Public Archeology has always been researching on the relations between Archeology and public, society and public. Then, for the years of practising and searching, the Public Acheology has become more important in cultural heritage protection of overseas.For chapter one, it explains the notion of the Public Archeology, and establishes the foundation of further studing for the Public Archeology matters.For chapter two, through analyzing practice cases which have promoted, it discusses the necessity of establishing the Public Archeology in China. For chapter three, it discusses the practice of the Public Archeology in the aspect of cultural heritage protection, and finds the suitable Chinese type through studing the promoted practice cases, as well as prospects the development of Chinese Public Archeology.This paper pays attention to practice of the Public Archeology in protecting of Chinese cultural heritage, with the expectation of relieving the cultural heritage resources crisis, shortening the distance between public and Archeology, public and cultural heritage protection, promoting the sustainable development of cultural heritage.
