The Relationship Among Perfectionism, Family Environment And Depressive Mood Of Middle School Students

Perfectionism is a common psychological phenomenon in middle school students group, so is depressive mood with constantly high relevance rate. In recent years, the relationship between perfectionism and depressive mood has always been a hot research topic in psychology field. Based on the present researches, this study aims to further identify their relationship. Meanwhile, the study gets another variable---family environment involved so as to further reveal interaction mechanism among the middle students'perfectionism, family environment and depressive mood.Through questionnaires and semi-structured interview, the study chooses a random sample of 501 students, who come from key high and middle school, secondary high and middle school in Sichuan province in research. What's more, by doing semi-structured interview to two subjects randomly selected from group tested in the quatitative study, the author finds that perfectionism has indeed strong relationship with the family environment. By doing differences test, multiple linear correlation, multiple regression analysis and intervening variables analysis of the data collected, the study gets the results as follows:1. Middle school students of different gender, urban or rural origin, age, parental educational level show certain differences in overall perfectionism or internal multi-dimensions of perfectionism.2. Family environment of middle school students of different gender, urban or rural origin, age, parental educational level, show certain differences in multi-dimensions of family environment.3. The detection rate of depressive mood in this study is about 36.5%. Female students show higher depression tendency, and school students aged 14-15 have a higher susceptibility to depression.4. Each dimension of perfectionism among middle school students and the family environment has a significant correlation; each dimension of perfectionism and depressive mood has certain correlation; In family environment, the intimacy, independence, knowledge, entertainment and depressive mood has significantly negative correlation, while the contradiction is positively correlated with depressive mood.5.Doubt of action, concerns about mistakes, order and personal standard of perfectionism jointly predict the arousal of depression mood.6. As an meditor variable between middle school Students' perfectionism and depressive mood, the family environment has a mediating impact to the regression of perfectionism to depressive mood. The family environment plays an influencing role in the prediction from perfectionism to depression.
