Wu Ma Xun Cheng was born in Fengkai county Zhaoqing city, which was named Guangxin in ancient time and known as Ancient Capital of Culture in South China at present. It spreads in Dazhou town as a kind of eminent folk dance. In 2007, Wu Ma Xun Cheng was listed in the second batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage. Wu Ma Xun Cheng was one of the Zhu Ma dance in ancient time, the origin of the dance has been untraceable. From Tang and Song dynasty till now, it has been inherited by the local folk artists. During 50s to 90s in the last century, Wu Ma Xun Cheng was very popular in Dazhou and other districts around in Spring Festival. However, because of the changes of social culture and commercial effects, the living conditions of the dance can not be optimistic. Although it was listed as the provincial intangible cultural heritage, there are a lot of imperfections in its protecting and developing projects, which are charged by the government and non-governmental organizations. These defects even accelerate its demise. In order to innovate on the basic of core value inheritance, favorable factors in all aspects should be combined and folk cultural space should be rebuilt, so that the dance has the chance to renew in the modern economic and cultural background.
