The editor of "Wang Shuo's Collections" says," The law governing the literary world is 'each leading the trend for three years or five years', but how to explain that Wang Shuo has been popular for eight consecutive years and takes the lead all along, even ruling the Book market?"[1] This is the unique charm of Wang. Once upon a time, Wang Shuo lit up the contemporary literary world. He gave the Chinese society a huge impact by his inimitable theme, unique characters, and smart language. Commentators have unprecedented disputes upon Wang Shuo. Liu Xinwu once said," Wang Shuo and his works can be criticized, but cannot be denied its existence. It seems that the in the mid-eighties and mid-nineties of the 20th century, Chinese mainland could hardly ignore Wang and his works." [2] This illustrates Wang's influence on China's contemporary literature.Wang is a "Legend" from the mid-eighties of the 20th century to the early 21st century. "Wang Shuo's Popularity" is a product of a certain age and it can be said that the era creates Wang. He provides us new social perspectives and pays attention to a unique group of people with a new social mentality. The figures of the "hooligan", "riffraff", "Wan Zhu" described by Wang are always vivid enough to attract people. A large number of critics of Wang's article have followed the publication of his works. Outstanding theoretical research results of Wang's novels are abound, however, most of which are still focused on the style, the language features, characters and other fields. This thesis attempts to analyze Wang's works from a new angle by looking into Wang's personal experience and digging out the hidden figure of the author from his novels. This thesis mainly analyzes and discusses the topic from three aspects:The first part discusses Wang's works in connection with his growing experiences, attempts to explore the influence of his unique experiences upon his novels, and furthermore, excavates Wang's own silhouette from the figures in his novel. Almost all writers'personal experiences will cast a shadow in their works and it is particularly true with Wang Shuo who was brought up in the Cultural Revolution. His works are characterized by an underlying clue of his growing experience, from which we can see how the memories of Wang Shuo marks his works. The second part focuses on the profound relationship of his experiences and novels. By analyzing the works, this part further explore the complex psychology of Wang linked to his life experiences. We cannot ignore the author's living environment when reading, since his/her different living environment gives him/her unique feeling towards life, and this feeling will be reflected in his/her literary works. Writers, more or less, will leave some hints of their psychological moods in their literature, and they are creating under the guidance of their moods. Wang Shuo is no exception. By reading the works of Wang Shuo, we find Wang's complex psychological mood when he writes, and this kind of psychological mood is exposed in his works, characters and so on.The third part reexamines the personality, the works and the"phenomenon"of Wang Shuo from a new perspective. As time changes and the number of his readers reduces, Wang's influence declines. Wang Shuo's era has an end, but he will leave a continuous impact.
