The Code Of The Pioneer: The Metaphor Thoughts In Yuhua's Work

Yu Hua is a very influential and controversial writer in contemporary Chinese literary world. His creation is famous for its pioneering in the earlier stage and renowned for its realism in the later stage. The pioneering and the realism look like a pair of contradictory factors existing in his work. We can say that his writting style is both pioneer and realism, reflecting both the outer world and the inner world. As a result, his work is full of tension and implication, of which the interpretation could be unlimited.Yu Hua is a quite controversial writer. The critical circles hold two kinds of attitudes towards Yu Hua's work. One believes that after Yu Hua's transformation, his work turns to be the "folk", instead of being pioneer.However, another one believes that Yu hua's work belongs to the pioneer at all times.I am inclined to agree with the latter judgement that Yu Hua's work is pioneer all the time, and this kind of pioneer is exactly decided by the writer's pioneer spirit and his metaphor thoughts.This conclusion is based on most scholar's views and obtained from the detailed text analysis. As the most important one in Yu Hua's creation thoughts, the metaphor thoughts is irreplaceable. It's the metaphor thoughts that influences his writing, casts its pioneer spirit, and eventually establishes a characteristic writing way and unique writing style.Therefore, this thesis aims to interpret Yu Hua's whole creation by refining and obtaining the metaphor thoughts in his novel, and taking the writer's creation view into account. Firstly, the metaphor and metaphor thoughts are analysed; then, the characteristics of the metaphor thoughts are analysed and the close association between the metaphor thoughts and Yu Hua's creation were identified -Their final purposes are all for realizing cognition.Secondly, the first part of this thesis expounds the existence and expression form of the metaphor thoughts in Yu Hua's work. It is explained from three respects of language, image and structure;Part Two expounds Yu Hua's creation which is influenced by the metaphor thoughts. In my opinion, the characteristic conception, the unique drawing materials, the scenario set, the "No I"narrative, the exertion of language, and the configuration of the structure are all the results of the metaphor thoughts.It not only serves its metaphor purpose, but also serves as a way of the realization of creation from the realist to the abstract. Part Three explains mainly the relationship between the metaphor thoughts and Yu Hua's pioneer spirit. In the face of the truth that the "pioneer" concept is getting more enlarged and fuzzy day by day, the author redefined the "pioneer" in a new age, and pointed out that the "pioneer" has its concrete difference in different historical era. The reason why the metaphor thoughts can become the pioneer password for Yu Hua's creation is that the two share common point in spirit-Thinking of people's existing circumstances and thinking of the relationship between people and the world.This macroscopical thoughts makes Yu Hua's work be always with cognition and exploring desires.So long as he has been insisting on concerning the human existing circumstances, caring about people's heart, paying attention to this world, and forming its leading thoughts, his work will be always full of metaphor, change, and the pioneering factor. As a writer who wants to remain pioneering forever, he is destined to go through a hard and exclusive road.
