On The Indigenization In The Film Dubbing Translation From The Perspective Of Communication Theory

The opening policy and the reforming of the Chinese economy promote the cultural communication of China and other countries. The films and TV programs have become a medium of the world cultural communication. So the dubbed films become one of the most important ways to know about the world. The film dubbing translation becomes more and more important as numerous foreign films come into Chinese movie market. The dubbing translation is helpful for Chinese audiences to understand and appreciate foreign films, but in the past years, the Chinese people didn't accept the dubbing style that the dubbers tried their best to imitate the tune-pattern of the foreigners and the dubbing translation is too exotic to understand. Based on the research of the formers, this paper tries to find out the causes, the embodiment, the merits and the limitation of indigenization according to the guidance of communication theory.Under the guidance of Lasswell's 5W Model and Shannon and Weaver's Mathematical Model and based on the study and analysis of the features of dubbed films and language of the dubbed films, the author draws the Dubbed Film Communication Model. According to the Dubbed Film Communication Model, Shannon's Information Theory and the Noise Theory, the author summarized that indigenization in dubbed films can make the information of dubbed films get the best communication effects. Through the study and analysis, the author draws four enlightenments on indigenization in film dubbing translation under the guidance of communication science:1.The embodiment of the indigenization in the dubbed films can be showed by:1)Using typical Chinese speaking tune 2) Using typical Chinese colloquial expressions3)Using Chinese featured speaking manner4) Using the pop expressions5) Using Chinese featured language6) Adding information7) Using parody2.The merits the indigenization in the dubbed films is that:1) Enriching the contents of the dubbed film2) Making the films more easily be accepted3) Protecting the traditional Chinese culture3.The deficiency of the indigenization is mainly that the indigenization will to certain extent decrease the chances that the Chinese audiences know about the foreign culture and language.4. The indigenization in film dubbing translation requires the translators should be flexible and creative. But the freedom is not unlimited. The creative and flexible translation should take the genera of the film, the aim of the communication and the understanding competence and requirements of the audiences into consideration.
