Liang Shiqiu, a unique character in Chinese modern literary of the 20th century, whose literary theories contain strong tendency of conservation, abstraction, formalism, etc., publicizes humanity, reason and morality, advocating people's returning to tradition. His literary theories are of strong western classical color. He is a classical representative in Chinese modern literary between 1920s and 1930s. Each of Liang Shiqiu's basic classical literary theory has a trace of Western classical literary theories.As the representatives of Western classical literary theory, Aristotle, Mathew ? Arnold and Owen ? Babbitt have a significant impact on the formation of Liang Shiqiu's literary ideas. Their literary theories are complementary and intertwined, promoting the improvement and development of Liang Shiqiu's classical literary theories. Facing such great Western cultural impact, Liang Shiqiu holds an objective and cautious attitude. He believes that between Western classical literary theories and Chinese traditional Confucianism there are some similarities, among which can be inherited, developed and transformed so that they can be used as the best ways to promote the Chinese literature development between 1920s and 1930s.To have a comprehensive understanding of the impact of Western literary ideas on LiangShiqiu's theories, his acceptance and transformation of Western literary theories must first be studied. This paper begins with Liang Shiqiu's literary theories, analyzing the important aspects of his theories and showing the classical characters. Through these characters, his relationship with Aristotle, Mathew ? Arnold and Owen ? Babbitt on the acceptance and transformation of literary theories can be understood, so that the goal of exploring the impact of Western classical literary theories can be achieved.
