Study On Gorbachev's Thought Of Political Reform

Gorbachev realized the Soviet must reform since he taking office, first, he concentrated on economy, but the economic reform suffered some setbacks, which led to overall social disorder, then Gorbachev put his attention on political area. We could find that under his guidance of"New thinking", the political reform route which take democratization, openness, diversity as means to establish a humane'democratic'socialism is just a fantasy. His political reform neither solve the internal and external intensive situation of Soviet, nor establish a rational political system full of vigor and vitality, but shaken and deprived the Communist Party of the core leadership, abandoned the basic principles of Marxism, finally resulting in the disintegration of both the Communist Party and Soviet Union. So we need to carefully analyze the ruling ability of Gorbachev including hold the state power, maintain the legal status of ruling party, enact the guiding principle, control national institutions, coordinate organizational relationships and integrate social relations, deal with complex situations and resist kinds of risks. Deeply think over the exact reason of Gorbachev's failed political reform, and learn lessons from it. We should realize: the development of socialism cause couldn't be done in one time, is a long-term, systematical , and complex project, there's still a long way to go of the socialism reform, the error is inevitable because there is no precedent to follow. The ruling party must combine the progressiveness of Marxist guiding ideology with superiority of socialism, develop a reform route which fit its own national conditions, firmly grasp the initiative and leadership of the reform, control the direction of reform, in order to make the reform developing step by step in a planned way along socialist direction while taking the Communist Party as core leadership.The article mainly discuss Gorbachev's reform in political field, by introducing the background of political reform and Gorbachev's personal experience, we come to the conclude the inevitability of reform; analyze the failure factors of the political reform through its reason, political line, specific content and consequences, then analyze how the leader Gorbachev's ruling ability affect the political reform, ultimately propose some problems which worth thinking about, to provide reference of for our reform of socialist cause.
