The paper mainly researches the application of traditional decorative patterns in tea houses. The research consists of four parts. Part one is to classify the traditional decorative patterns existing in modern tea houses; summarize the origins and themes of decorative patterns and study their application range from the following four aspects including the space components, furniture, furnishings and lighting of tea houses. Part two is to refine the meanings of patterns and discuss the ways to create the atmosphere of tea houses by using traditional decorative patterns. Through the researches on the application methods of decorative patterns existing in modern tea houses, it is concluded that the main presentation means of decorative patterns include the representation of traditional forms, the application of visual signs, the multi-cultural application and the application of new presentation forms. Part three is to research the application of traditional decorative patterns in the interior design of tea houses and aesthetic appreciation of their humanistic qualities. The research is based on their artistic values and cultural values and deeply analyses the cultural spirit and emotional values presented by the traditional decorative patterns used in tea houses. The final part is to put forward the author's opinions about the development of traditional decorative patterns applied in tea houses and prove them from the following three aspects:1. conservation and innovation; 2. the modern theory of "the least is the most"; 3. reflection of new cultural connotations.
