Translation, considered as intercultural communication, has been making great contributions to every country's economic and cultural development around the world. However, due to various reasons, the translator's role has not been sufficiently demonstrated. In the past, translation researches focus on the comparison between the original text and target text, on success and failure in the target text and on translation skills. Faithful to the original translation is the standard of traditional translation theory. The translator must be faithful reproduction of the original text. The translator must be"hidden"in the translation works.Since the late 1970s, the culture-oriented translation research approach has been applied in translation studies. In the 1990s, the translation studies officially took the"cultural turn". With these developments, people can take a fairer and all-sided look at translation and the translator. Being put under the macro-context of social, historical and cultural background, translation beings to be considered a process of intercultural communication rather than an end product, and the translator, who possesses noticeable historical, cultural and personal characteristics, has become"visible"in translation. As a result, the subjectivity of the translator, who is the subject of translation and a vital link enabling different cultures to interact, has been brought to the foreground and become a heated subject in translation studies. This thesis reviews the traditional translation studies and comes to the conclusion that traditional translation researches focus on the comparison between the original text and target text, on success and failure in the target text and on translation skills. Faithful to the original translation is the standard of traditional translation theory. The subjectivity of translator is neglected. The author also reviews the role of the translator and gets a conclusion that the role of translator has been obscured for a longtime. Either"a servant with two masters,""traitor"or"invisible man"doesn't obscure the importance of the translator. With Western Cultural Turn in translation studies, translator's subjectivity has been conducted in-depth research both in west and China.According to coordination translation theory, author further discusses the translator's subjectivity in coordination between translator and author, reader and the character described in original text. Based on Skoposthoerie, author makes a specific analysis on the translation of film subtitles. This thesis takes the film subtitles of"Freaky Friday"as researching case. On the basis of coordination theory and Skoposthoerie, author makes a specific analysis on the film subtitles of"Freaky Friday". Comparative and textual analyses are used in the case. From the view of Skopostheorie, author analyzes the translator's subjectivity in choice of the film "Freaky Friday". In the process of subtitle translation, author combined with Skopostheorie and coordination theory analyzes the subjectivity of translator.Thought the above analysis of translator's subjectivity, author get a conclusion that in the subtitle translation, subjectivity of translator take Skopostheories as basis and translation coordination theory as the criterion in order to give a full play.
