From end of the 18th Century to the beginning of the 19th century is the period that western music transforming from classicism to romanticism. These transformations involve many aspects such as musical life, musical social functions and aesthetic ideas, musician survival state and music styles as well.The whole life of Carl Maria Von Weber is just crossing the two centuries,whose music shows those changes in many aspects.Weber is a composer, conductor, music critic and famous pianist. His piano musical works are not so many in quantity, but are strongly connected with his musical performance, which is not only reflect the change of piano aesthetic taste in the 19th century, but also embodies his personal characteristics of exploring new styles.Weber's piano music generally characterize the preference of the 19th century's compositions and audiences to small form, fresh sound effects and bravura style; his initiating to programmatic works;meanwhile, his sonatas show the retention to the traditional forms and changes under the influence of new styles. Weber's musical language characteristics distinguishable personality and has an effect on later composers.In this thesis,regarding the No.1 and No.2 piano sonata as the research objects, the writer conducts the musical analysis to the sonatas respectively, and studies the performance interpretation combining with the playing experience of his own. The whole thesis includes introduction, three chapters and references, and with two appendixes:Weber's biography and Weber's piano works list.The first chapter is a brief introduction to Weber's lifetime, as well as overview to the piano style of Weber. In the second and third chapters, the writer probe into the producing background, musical analysis and performance interpretation of Weber's No.1 and No.2 sonatas.The lyrical style, picturesque colors, theatrical scenes and artistic techniques expressed in Weber's piano sonatas, all become the symbol of his romantic initiative. He is excellent at expressing his individual character and romantic tendency in his piano sonatas by fully imaginative timber. He is distinctively capable of adding sound effect of symphony into piano performance to obtain a more grave and full tone color. In his era, Weber got an ample key range, violent dramatic conflicts and strong contrast effects through fully extending and improving the keyboard performance of piano.
