Pierre Boulez (1925-) is generally acknowledged to be one of the most important figures in avant-garde music since the Second World War.He is not only a representative of the Total Serialism, but also one of the forerunners of Paris pioneer music. Owning double identities, both composers and conductors, he is a real master of 20th century avant-garde music. Claude Samuel refers to him as "the leading light of the new generation"; The originality of Boulez's idea and the pursuit of timbre compostion affect contemporary and subsequent generations of young composers. Throughout the river of music in the 20th century, Boulez's work occupies an important seat with strong power.Notations"â… -â…£was adapted from the first four movements of Boulez's early piano works of 1945, the "Notations". The work is amazing with its various and rich band sound, while the timbre and the acoustics play an important role in the whole structure of this work. It is one of composer's representatives in his mature period. This article does in-depth analysis from the orchestration point of view, of its sound world created by full orchestration and very detailed part voice treatment.This article consists of three parts. The first part is a brief of the composer's life, composing staging, the influence to Boulez from Schoenberg and Messiaen, and Total Serialism. The second part is a brief of composing background of "Notations", and the technical aspects of the composition characteristics. The third part does research and analysis mainly focusing on the following issues.the instrumentation of the work and the resource of acousticsthe personalized treatment on instrument voicesthe timbre processing in vertical structure formed by detailed and personalized of voice partsthe timbre layout in horizontal structure and orchestration layout of the work.Finally, there is a summary of the orchestration technology used in this work and also some opinions from the writer of this article...
