The Transitions And The Laws Of Administrative Division Of Zhengzhou

The transitions of administrative division in the history of Zhengzhou were complicated. There were four periods in the history:In Qin and Han Dynasties, Zhengzhou area in units of county belonged to different administrative areas; after Wei and Jin Dynasties, Xingyang became the political and economic center of Zhengzhou officially; afterwards of Sui and Tang Dynasties, the political and economic center of Zhengzhou moved to Guancheng area; Jin Dynasty later, the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou transferred from Luoyang to Kaifeng.Before Sui Dynasty, Xingyang area played an important role in the history of Zhengzhou. From that time on, the status of Guancheng gradually increased and replaced Xingyang as the administrative center of Zhengzhou. In the history, the changes of the administrative of Zhengzhou were influenced by Kaifeng, Luoyang and the Yellow River deeply. Xuanyuan Ancient Road in Dengfeng connected ancient Luoyang and its southeast. Transportation, military and other factors made that Dengfeng was the southeast gateway of Luoyang, so that Dengfeng had been under the jurisdiction of Luoyang since ancient times. After Five Dynasties period, the political status of Luoyang and Kaifeng went through a rise and fall. The administrative divisions of Zhengzhou which sandwiched between Luoyang and Kaifeng also changed. Since ancient times, the northern boundary of Zhengzhou has been the Yellow River. Because of the southward movement of the Yellow River, the erosion of the Yellow River on the south side of mountain forced many county to change their administrative centers, the north area of Zhengzhou in history was bigger than today.
