The Research On City,Urbanization And How To Accelerate The Urbanization Course In China

City is the symbol of contemporary civilization and is also the center of economy,politics,science and technology,culture and education. As the history has proved,if a country is in the course of industrialization and modernization,at the same time it is also in the course of urbanization. Compared with the average standard of the world,the urbanization in China has a late beginning and slow development. The serious lag of urbanization has greatly delayed the socioeconomic development in China and is the primary cause of some serious problems.Purpose of the research: Accelerating the urbanization course actively and steadily is an important approach to solve the serious problems appeared during the course of the socioeconomic development in China. It is also the history mission that we must accomplish after the modernization came to a new phase. Urbanization should be the strategy emphasis of the socioeconomic development in the course of "the tenth five-year" and the after certain years. Therefore,it is necessary that we understand the connotation of "city" and "urbanization",hold the law of urbanization and find the emphases and measures of accelerating the urbanization course in China.Means of the research: Based on the requirement of building Socialist Market Economy in China,through studying the situation of China,the author utilized external laws and fundamental principles of Market Economy to analyze some questions and testify some viewpoints. Both qualitative and quantitative researches have been used in this paper. In addition,the author adopted "fore and aft" and transverse comparison between China and some foreign countries,then made the analysis from macroscopical angle to microcosmic. Combining theories with practicalities,the author collected a large amount of information and quoted many viewpoints,works and reports from experts,scholars and government officials.Result of the research: Through expatiating on "city" and the connotation,the law and the history of urbanization,the author believed that many favorable qualifications of accelerating the urbanization course in China have been provided with and that nowadays we have a great chance to accelerate it. In the fifth part of the paper,the author illustrated the significance of acceleration,the main problems in the course of the acceleration,the strategy objects,the route,the strategy emphases,the principles and the measures of the urbanization development in China.Conclusion: In this paper,city layered object,quantity object and quality object were brought forward as the strategy objects,developing both big city and small town was established as the route,adjusting the space structure and the economy structure,setting up the social security system were regarded as the emphases,innovation of city plan,policy,system,science and technology,administration and concept was decided as the measures. Based on the above,we can accelerate the urbanization course in China actively and steadily.
