From Subject To Citizen——An Attempt To Make A Research Into Political Development

The theory of political development is an important field of modem politics, which was used initially by the western scholars to make researches into political changes of the developing countries. This thesis expounds from the angle of historical materialism that politics has been developing constantly from its birth; that transformation and adjustment of political relations is essential content of the political development; that the political democracy is the aim of the political development and that the different positions and functions, say from subject to citizen, people as subjects of politics have, are the specific indications of the political development.Accompanying construction of the socialist democracy is the goal of our country's political development, perfect political subject, namely citizen constitutes the carrier of operation of our country's democracy. So the thesis will distinguish, on the basis of historical materialism, in the analytical frame of political development as well as along the mainline from subject to citizen, the definitions of subject and citizen and ancient and modern models of citizen, especially the theoretical basis and logical structure of modem theory of citizen. On this basis the thesis furthers its analysis by studying the reason why there were no citizens in our country in ancient times and also provides some constructive suggestions on the formation of modem citizens in our country in order to meet the need of the construction of socialist political democracy.
