A Study Of ZhangWentian's Thought In The Utilization Of Capitalism

In the course of Chinese revolution and socialist construction, how to form sound policies in the utilization of capitalism according to China's condition is a significant theoretical and practical issue. As one of the major leaders in a period of considerable length in the history of the Communist Party of China, ZhangWentian followed the utilization of capitalism with great interest ,thus made diligent explorations in each historical period. Taking ZhangWentian's thought in the utilization of capitalism as the object of study, this paper makes a comparatively systematic and thorough delving into the background, development course, connotation, causes and theoretical features of his thought, therefore brings the influence of his thought to light.This paper holds that in the CPC's history of understanding capitalism, ZhangWentian had three initiations: advocating utilizing capitalism to develop the economy of the revolutionary base areas; placing state capitalism as one of the new democracy's five sectors of economy; requiring dealing with the economy of new and old rich peasants' in different ways ,and encouraging developing the economy of new rich peasants'. ZhangWentian's thought which was the result of the integration of theory and practice consistently adhered to the criterion of productive forces, and had the characteristic of blazing new trails continuously. Not only did ZhangWentian's thought made great contributions to MaoZedong's thought of economy, but his thought was the theoretical source of DengXiaoping's thought in the utilization of capitalism. Zhang's thought can still be used for reference for our country to set up the structure of ownership in which multiple sectors of economy exist side by side with public ownership as main body, and the system of socialist market economy as well.
