| The ideological and political education is an important factor affecting the modernization of a person. The core of people's modernization is his quality. A modern man refers to a person with modern quality. The term "modem" is not only a conception of time, but kind of requirement for a person's quality.The ideological and political education drives the people's modernization in the following five aspects. (1) It can strengthen the sense of approve in our socialism modernization affairs. (2) it also helps to form an ideological notion that is consistent with our socialist modernization in terms of the circumstances in our country, the modern ideological consciousness includes that of the reform and opening, of competition of creating new ideas, of efficiency, of democracy and laws and that of sustainable development and their like. (3) it helps to develop a person's intelligence, to form an intellectual structure in consistent with our modernization. A modern man should not only has the ability of concentration, memory, but the capacity in creation. It is the duty of the ideological and political education to train competent persons with creative minds in the construction of modernization. (4) it also helps to promote the formation of a perfect character. (5) it can enrich and improve our ethical lives and drive people to seek for good ones. It plays its role by its, motive mechanism, objective mechanism, management mechanism, and security mechanism in their good cooperative working.Since our country has reformed and opened up, the problems that ideological and political education finds in the driving of a person's modernization can be concluded as follows. Firstly, the one-side virus on the ideological and political education also exert its bad influence. This includes the one-side views in quality, value and task; secondly, the contents of ideological and political education are old-fashioned and hence affects the modernization process of the people. Forexample, the education ""of" materialism and atheism is" overlooked; scientific knowledge can't be applied to the ideological and political education immediately. Thirdly, the teaching methods are inflexible the old-fashioned messages are hard to work on a person's modernization. Fourthly, some educators of ideology and politics are short of the quality required for the development of a modern man. Exactly, they lack the activeness in their work, they can't meet the needs of the new situation and especially lack the creative ability and the consciousness of creation.We must take measures to solve all these problems. Firstly, we should locate the work's breakpoint to promote the modernization of person's ideology: to arm people with scientific theories, so as to promote the liberation of people's ideology; train people in practice so that their views can be renewed. Secondly, we should broaden the content of the ideological and political education to perfect the quality structure of the modern people. This include strengthening their ideas and beliefs, enriching their knowledge, enhancing the education on duty and profits, on the choice of jobs on the sustainable development; thirdly, we should emphasize working new methods in the ideological and political education and increase their influence on people's modernization. Say, to combine the overt work with the covert work; to combine the education on ideology and politics with people's material interests. Fourthly, we should pay attention to modernization of the educators. The educators should strengthen the understanding of the importance of the ideological and political education upon the modernization of a person, to help them improve their qualities; to strengthen the building of systems in order to ensure the improvement of the educators qualities; to regulate the policies to help promote the positive factors of the educators in ideology and politics.
