Silk industry was one of China's oldest industries, and also the beginning of national industry of modern times. To date, silk products have been China's traditional export commodities to earn foreign exchange, exported to more than 130 countries and regions, so they have an important position in China's foreign trade. However, since 1990's China's silk foreign trade has been up and down. Even after several year's adjustment, it has not completely got rid of the difficult situation. Now, with China's entry into WTO, the new situation has brought about not only chances but also challenges into the silk industry, this article, by large amounts of data, attempts to analyze positively the characteristics of China's silk export trade, making clear its changing trend, and to analyze the impact on China's Silk industry caused by liberal trend of world trade and China's entry into WTO. On this basis , this article puts forward the counter policies to develop silk industry and to improve international competition of silk products.
