On Regional Economic Disparity Of Fujian Province Since Reform And Opening-up And Its Measures

The unbalanced development in regional economy has been one of the distinct features in Fujian's economy since the reform and opening-up. This dissertation attempts to investigate the regional economic disparity in Fujian systematically and profoundly. This paper focuses the variation characteristics of regional economic disparity of Fujian province since 1978, on the basis of which to probe into its causes and seek strategies to narrow the disparity.By using the detailed and systemic data, this paper analyzes the variation of regional economic disparity of Fujian province. The result of the analysis indicates that both the absolute and relative disparity are continuing enlarging, the main part of the disparity composed of the disparity between the costal and hilly regions is also becoming enlarging. This paper considers that the regional economic disparity in Fujian are the results of the Multi-Back Wash Effect between the southeast costal areas and northwest hilly regions in Fujian, which are caused by the non-equilibrium in the process of market reform. The quality of environment is not coordinate with the development of economy in some areas. Finally, this paper discusses if it is necessary to control the regional economic disparity in Fujian and then proposes some suggestions and countermeasures to prompt the coordinate development.
