A Theoretical Exploration And Empirical Study On The Varying Regulation Of Regional Economic Disparity And National Economic Growth

The inequality of economic growth between domestic regions is a universal phenomenon for every country in the world when its economy is developing. So that many scholars have begun to pay more attentions to it. The way to realize accordant development between the regions with a rapid persisting progress of national economy has become a hotspot in the study of regional economics. Under the background, this paper make a empirical study about the varying relations between regional economic disparity and national economic growth from a new point of view, And on a basis of summarizing the regulations, some suggestions are made for solving the problem of regional disparities in China.At first, according to new datum, Williamson's inverted-U theory has been tested again in this paper, and an elementary analysis on the varying trend between regional economic disparity and national economic growth is made. In the following, the author takes six countries involving America, Canada, Australia, Brazil, China and India as samples, and observes lengthways the varying relation between economic growth rate and regional disparity in every country within recent 20 years according to time series, then selects America and China as delegates of developed countries and developing countries respectively. And by analyzing the differences of growth rate in leading industries and economic elements between domestic regions, the author makes a further study on influence factors determining the varying trend of regional economic disparity. And then the follow conclusions are drawn: the ultimate cause that leads to different varying trend of regional disparity and economic growth between two countries is the flow size and flow speed of economic elements from a domestic region to another, and the flow status relies mostly on the development of market in the two countries. So that the more consummate is the market system, the more quickly the interregional elements flow. Then the inequality of economic elements growth will reduce, and the regional disparity will be limited in a small range while the national economy persists in a rapid development. In the end some suggestions about improving market economy system and expediting interregional elements flow are put forward considering the market current constructing circumstance in China.The main innovation in this paper is combining regional economic disparity and national economic growth rate to research instead of only discussing the relation of regional disparity, national income level and economic developing stage. During empirical study the author uses a method that uniting horizontal contrast and lengthways analysis, observes overall the varying relation between regional disparity and economic growth rate according to the datum of many countries, and reviews the crucial factors that decides regional disparity movement from the angle of interregional economic elements flow, then advances the recognition of building and promoting the market economy system.
