Upper Horn Investments Ltd., In The Reform Of Guangdong Electricity Industry

The author of the case study worked for Shajiao C Generation Corporation and Upper Horn Investments Ltd, subsidiary of Yue Dian Assets Operation Ltd. Witnessed the reform and the split on electricity power industry carried out in Guangdong province.This case study consists of two parts, case and case analysis. In the first part, the author described the founding background of Upper Horn Investments Ltd and its core business. Also briefly introduced Guangdong Eletricity Power Industry and the reforming process. At the end of this part, the problem on how to cope with the changing market is raised.In the second part, case analysis, with what the author learned from the curriculum of MBA, especially the theories of Strategic Management, the author tried to study on the current macro environment, analyzes the attractiveness of the electricity industry , the electricity market competition forces and also tried to describe the electricity demand and consumption status of Guangdong province both at present and in the future. Meanwhile after looking into the company's sources, the author made contemplation and discussion on the means of matching the company's sources with its strategy. In the end, the author offered strategic solutions to the company on how to strengthen its competition force and achieve it goal.
