Since the reform and opening policies were carried out, the tourism and hospitality industries in China have developed quickly, which also help to bring about hotel groups' development. But there are still great gaps hi scale, operational pattern, strategy and other facets between the famous international hotel groups and ours. Because the ownership structure and many other difficult problems were unresolved, most of the hotel groups in China appear strongly regional. The capability of expansion is weak and the expansion speed is slow. With the globalization, more and more international hotels enter the China's market; our hotel groups are in disadvantage situation. How to establish a networking system around the world becomes very urgent. It is just in this background that the writer has conducted the research into the "regional hotel group how to operate in networking".The intention and extension of hotel group concept will be analyzed standardly and positively , based on the definitions of enterprise& enterprise group, hotel& hotel group, regional hotel group and networking operation. A systematic exposition about the institutional condition, function and networking operational reflection of hotel group is also made.The reasons and history for the generation and development of hotel group are demonstrated from three facets e.g. geographic expansion form, operational patterns and financial methods. The trend of international hotel groups and how they develop in China are analyzed. Because most of the hotel groups in China are still in regional growing phase, comparing to the mature international hotel group, we lack of advantages. Our hospitality industry is facing a competitive situation.The developing process of our hotel groups is irregular, which cause the development of hotel group facing many obstacles. The barriers that influence the hotel groups' growing are studied which are institutional barrier, capital barrier, and technological barrier and management barrier. The significance is to make it clear what are the problems we have to overcome.In order to improve competitive advantage and develop into an international group, what the hotel group in China should do is to resolve the ownership relationship, establish modern enterprise system, emphasize the corporate culture, better management pattern and utilize the most efficient financial methods to form networking operational system. The last part is contributed to a case study about the development of" Zhejiang Kai Yuan Group"Different from the previous articles, some progresses are made in this paper. Such as, the study angle is from the micro individual enterprise, not from macro industry angle; the paper uses a great deal of history material, from which conclusions are drawn; the concept of " regional hotel group" is offered definitely.Cui Van-ling (Tourism Management) Directed By Vice Professor Wang Ping...
