As China enhances itS financial industry and fastens its pace of opening up,more and more fOreign banks are involves in the operations of China's banking.Intemationally, the trends of globaliZaion and integraion and liberaliZaion ofintemational financial service are the profound background, tmder Whichtransnational banks land the main land of China. Domestically, the step-by-steppolicies of opening uP of China's banking, particularly these promises made byChina to WTO are the incentives for fOreign banks to be involved in thedevelopment of China banking. With the participation of foreign banks, China'sbanking galned vigor and has to confront challenges of the financial security anddevelopment.There are five chaPters in thes essay ChaPter one describes the background ofthe opening up China's banking and the liberalization of the intemational financialservices from the following three aspects: the new development of transnationalbanks and the new trend of intemational finance; the present sitUation of China'sbanking; and the new challenges tha China's banking has to confront with itsentrance into WTO. ChaPter twO indicates the essence of the liberaliZaion ofinternational financial service in theory; makes an overall analysis on its effects anddemonsthees the open-up issues in financial market in relation with the opening upof China's banking. In terms of positive analysis, chaPter three reviews the nistoryand present sitUations of fOreign banks dOing business in China, illustrates in detailstheir patter altemation analysis, strategy-alternation analysis, marketing-strategyanalysis and present competitiveness analysis in their operations in China. ChaPterfour putS fOrwards some effective ways to improve China's financial supervision onthe basis of genend theories as to financial of strengthening Tegulation withconsidendion of the Present sitUations of foreign banks' operations in China. Thelast chapter makes a detailed analysis on the competitiveness of Chinese banks and then seriously illustrates those rational proposals for Chinese banks to raise their competitiveness in dealing with the opening up of banking as a whole.
