With the variation of domestic and foreign economic situation, stone-processing industry at Chongwu ?the famous homeland of statuary in the nation?which developed rapidly in the past 10 years, is now having a hard time. Stone-processing Industry at Chongwu has an annual output value of 3.5 billion Yuan, which account for 70 percent of total economic output values of Chongwu. It would be of practical and instructive use to discuss on how to face new challenges, catch hold of opportunities and improve from existing state in this dramatically changing economic environment.Outline of the thesis:Chapter 1: Current developing status of stone-processing industry at ChongWu. Summaries on world-wide cultures of stone, the history of the development status of stone-processing industry at ChongWu and its role as in the economic are presented. Questionnaires and Surveys were designed and performed to indicate the fundamental development status of the industry. Typical categories of products of the industry is introduced and compared with domestic and foreign counterparts, mainly of Japan, Europe and North America. To better illustrate, the functioning of the Association of Stone-Processing Industry at ChongWu was introduced.Chapter 2: Existing problems of stone-processing industry at ChongWu and corresponding countermeasures. Relevant problemsaccompanying the rapid development of the industry are revealed. These problems include: environmental pollutions due to poor quality of water and huge amount of stone mill dust, competitive power problems due to innovations and market orientations and the construction of mining areas, etc. Measures corresponding to aforementioned problems were taken by relevant government agencies and companies to regulate the situations so as to create a well-ordered environment for future developments. Approaches to fully exploit resources to attract tourists are demonstrated.Chapter 3: Developing situations and emerging ideas. The impacts of China' s being admitted to WTO (World Trade Organization) on the stone-processing industry at ChongWu was explored and the corresponding countermeasures are presented, which emphasize on the impacts of antidumping policies. New thoughts on how to make fully use of the advantages of the Industry Association to meet the challenges to conform to the established international standards.
