Research in quality data, which is based on process, is an integral part of enterprise strategic planning on the resource of quality data. It belongs to the research of basic data for enterprise quality management, and lays the foundation of enterprise quality information system (QIS). It is not for designing the network, nor for programming software, but for the planning the resource of quality data.Under the practical situation in MIS of Guangxi Liuzhou Machinery Co. Ltd, this article focuses on analyses of classifications, basic processes, and demands of quality data, and it points out that all kinds of quality data in the present enterprise should be integrated, with products as carrier and by means of planning the basic quality data, to solve the bottleneck problem of unbalanced information in quality management. By the analyses on the disorder and non-structural data of huge number, this research would efficiently help to pick up the useful information, and collect and release the second- and the third-selected information for the information management, enquiry and optimization, support of decision-making, and process control, which enables data become the important resource for enterprise management, decision-making and strategy development. The article emphasizes on two aspects: classification of quality data and design of quality-flow.Firstly, the article has a study on role-position of quality data in research of quality engineering. Besides, it introduces the concept of quality, the evolvement of quality management, the theory of three parameter of quality, the theory of fourteen points, ISO9000, and theory of conformity to demand, etc. The article presents that quality data is the core of research of quality engineering, and all the measures of quality engineering are centered by the quality data. The research on the definition of quality data has changed the traditional ways of classifying the quality data by the codes. By synthesizing the old classification of quality data and summarizing the traditional names of the various kinds of accidents, the article indicates that the quality data elements should not be the minimal unit, and must be divided, therefore the article forwards a new way to define the element of quality data, it is named 'subsection definition' and solve the problem of uncertainty in definition of quality data. Based on the analyses on the quality data, the article introduces a new means,which is of the classification on demands, and classifies the data into three kinds. The first kind is the accident quality data, the second kind product ional quality data, and the third the functional quality data.In order to facilitate the selection, proceeding, and disposal of the above three kinds of quality data, the article redesigns those quality-data-flows after summing up the current business process. And the processes are to be applied to this three independent quality information systems.
