Study On The Influence On Cotton Production In Henan Province After China's Entry To WTO

After china's entry to WTO, the agriculture industry in China will be suffered from the shock of the world market inevitably. Cotton is one kind of economic plants which have much higher commercialized rate, and the impact and shock on it will be much greater than other crops. According to Uruguay Agricultural Agreement and the rules of Agricultural Agreement between China and U.S.A, this paper based on the fact that China has just been one of the formal members of WTO tries to judge the importance of China cotton production in world cotton production and trade, then tries to analyze the competitive abilities of Henan cotton in producing, trade, supply and demand in china and world range by using the principle of comparable advantage. At the same time this dissertation compares the cost and revenue of cotton and other crops. On the basis of above analysis and investigation, this thesis67summarizes the chance and challenge after China's entering into WTO, and put forward advice and countermeasures.Research indicates: the per unit area yield and quality of Henan province lies in middle and superior class. But, the per unit area yield lies in middle and inferior class in our country. The main reasons arecNSUB^?f>opî–¯lar rate fine breed and lack of investment, the poor producing condition and low labor quality are also the causes. Under present condition, Henan cotton has no price advantage.Therefore, the countermeasures of Henan cotton under the frame of WTO are following: first, improve the per unit area yield, especially paying much attention to the application of science and technology. Secondly, take synthetical advantage of by-product of cotton. Thirdly, attach importance to the quality management of cotton. At last, establish the whole nation cotton exchange market and cotton future market.
