Research On Developing Logistics Service Of Railway Freight Station In Supply Chain

Based on the conditions of organization and development in railway freight station, this paper applies theories of supply chain management and modern logistics management to solve the problem that railway freight station changes the management mode from current transportation service to modern logistics service.There are little mature theory and experience about this issue. The paper is designed to discuss the theories and methods through the research. Consulting the practice of overseas railway freightage and other transportation modes, the idea is presented about developing modern logistics in railway freight station.The research mainly includes:1. Current circumstance is analyzed on railway freight service. Introduced supply chain management theory, the inevitability of developing modern logistics service is pointed out for railway freight station in supply chain.2.Development strategy of freight station logistics service is presented under the condition of current facilities and management. On strategic level operation process is redesigned in accordance with the need of modern logistics enterprise in supply chain, as well as the service and operation mode is re-confirmed on operational level.3.Resources integrating means is discussed including design, management, and information of railway freight station. Then developing freight agencies and problems during development are considered.4.Information is analyzed in the logistics system of freight station. The idea is brought forward about logistics information system design, the logistics information platform faced to supply chain and then illustrated on a case.The research using supply chain theory on how to develop the modern logistics service may make a reference of reformation and development not only for railwayfreight stations but also for other transportation enterprises.
