Ecotourism is a rapidly expanding portion of the world's travel market and is considered as a new strategy for supporting the development of nature reserve. While envisioned as a positive approach towards sustainable development, unplanned or poorly planned tourism will have serious negative effects on the nature reserve, offsetting the benefits it was designed to provide. Scientific ecotourism planning is very important for ecotourism exploitation in the nature reserve. This study on ecotourism zone exploitation with ecological theories and methodologies has important academic and practical values. This paper consists three parts, discusses the theories and the implementation processes of nature reserve exploitation. Part one studies the meaning, characteristics, inscapes of ecotourism and the advances planning in nature reserve exploitation. Part two elaborates the principle of ecotourism planning. By studying the application of integration of ecosystem, ecosystem zone and resource limited in ecotourism planning and the behavior motives of ecotourist, this part sets up the exploitation strategies of ecotourism which are under-supervised by above mentioned theories. Part three applies those theories and strategies to ecotourism planning of Laotudingzi Nature Reserve. This part puts emphasis on the explanation of destination image setting, infrastructure planning of road and hotel etc.Based on the theories and case study, the paper points out that it is not enough only to put emphasis on macroscopical theories study, how to using scientific theories and combining behavior motives of ecotourist with ecotourism product design, minimizing destroy of infrastructure construction and using energy efficiently are also the key problems in ecotourism exploitation.
