The Research On Fostering Chinese Citizenship Awareness At Present

"Turning china into a strong, democratic, culturally socialist modem country" is our cardinal aim in the primary stage of socialism. Realizing the aim not only needs revolutions in political system, economic system and cultural system, but also needs revolution of citizens' thought, which means widely forming modem citizenship awareness. So, fostering citizenship awareness is urgently needed by speeded up modernization and an important subject in current social sciences. Under the leadership of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of 'Three Represents' and ideological political education theory, this paper threats the course of citizenship awareness and the contents of socialist citizenship awareness as support in theory, threats the value of fostering the citizenship awareness to emphasize the necessary of study, threats the present situation and causes of the citizen awareness as a support in reality, and seeks to construct a theoretical frame of fostering citizen awareness at present.Citizen and citizenship awareness, originated from democratic system in slave society, have two historic patterns of awareness, which of the subjects of a feudal ruler in feudal society and of the subjects of a bourgeoisie rule in capitalism. In socialism citizenship awareness has new contents including patriotism, independence, democracy, equality, right and duty, which are divided into two groups of citizen psychology and citizen thoughts.Forming citizenship awareness widely plays a decisive role in modernization. Firstly, it is an objective necessary of the development of socialist market economy which asks citizen for independence, awareness of fair competition, right and duty , rule-by-law. Secondly, it is an internal energy of democratic politic construction. Citizenship awareness provides energy for drawing up and revolutionizing of laws and supplies being law-abiding a realistic base. Thirdly, it is an internal base of spiritual civilizations constructioa Widespread forming citizenship awareness is an aim and mentally base of spiritual civilization construction. Finally, it is one of contents of human modernization.Widespread forming citizenship awareness is very important. But China does not have modem citizenship awareness. There are dependent and independent personality, awareness of yearning for honest cadre and democratic awareness, awareness of status and privilege and equal awareness, wrong awareness and correct awareness of right and duty. They hinder the development of modem constructioa The reasons of the present situation are social system, citizenship education and the social surrounding.I think we should put fostering citizenship awareness into ideology construction andbegin from moral, law, system and the social surrounding. The dialectical relationship of economic base and superstructure identifies this theory. On one hand, we should speed up socialist market economy. On the other hand, we should push ideology construction. So, we can foster widely citizenship awareness, speed up socialist modernization and rejuvenate China.
