In the Tibetan area of Gan Zi prefecture, there are several medical systems originally from different culture tradition. Because of the influence of traditional culture and religion, the medical behaviors of local residents are diversified. After' the foundation of the People's Republic of China, the government have provided a great many of welfare in the minority area, so the modern medical system deeply influence the local residents' behaviors, although there are some traditional behaviors. At present there are some decline of public health in Gan Zi prefecture after the 1980's, especially in the rural area. Now many researches have attributed the decline of rural area's medical service to the collapse of the "The Rural Cooperative Medical System", but from the research in Gan Zi prefecture the author think the main reason is the change of the Rural-Urban Dichotomy Structure and the more market-oriented factor appearing in the medical system since 1980's. Because of the market factor, the medical resources have concentrated in the urban area.Since the economy reform, the gap of social and economy development among different areas have become more and more serious which have undermined the development of the Gan Zi prefecture's public medical system. With the absence of medical insurance, the farmers are in the state of health poverty, which in turn have undermined the social and economy development of Gan Zi prefecture.
