The Study On The Basic Features And Functions Of Urban Area Economic Core Region And Hiterland, And The Coordinating Development Between Them

Nowadays one of the key trend for world economy is the continuous increasing globalization. Various countries and different areas depend on each other economically, the dependence becomes part of the global spatial economic system. In the new century our country is in the process of changing from planned economy to market economy. The society shows great concern increasingly on the area competition, area coordination, and area sustainable development etc.The urban area is the most potential and active part in the area, cause it organizes and drives the whole area development. Sampling of Jinan city, this article explores the countermeasures of coordinating the development of both the city territory economic core region and economic hinterland. Jinan is a single core city with highly concentrated economy, with powerful core region economy, and relatively weaker hinterland economy. It is an obvious dualistic structure. Through the analysis of the basic features and functions of the core region and its hinterland, the article finds the existing issues in the development; this article also tries to promote the reasonable distribution and communication of various manufacturing factors within urban area, thus it can develops continuously and coordinatively.There are five sections in this article: The first section is introduction, it argues and analyses the conceptions of urban area structure, economic core region, economic hinterland . It also describes the target, meaning and method of topic research. The second section briefs the theoretical foundation of this article-the CORE-PERIPHERY THEORY, AREA MUTUAL DEPENDENCE THEORY, INCREASING POLE THEORY. In the second section it also focuses on the edification and guidance of the above theory towards this article. The third section argues the basic features andfunctions of urban area economic core region. The fourth section analyses the basic features and functions of urban area economic hinterland. The fifth section launches the countermeasure and strategy of coordinating development of economic core region and its hinterland, on the basis of analyzing the existing issues in the development of urban area economic core region and economic hinterland. (Jinan city is taken as a sample).This article shows innovation as the following: Firstly, in the research content. The urban area interior structure is taken as a research object. On the basis of exploring and analyzing the guidance meaning from the CORE-PERIPHERY THEORY, the AREA MUTUAL DEPENDENCE THEORY, and the INCREASING POLE THEORY towards the development coordination of urban area economic core region and its hinterland , it summarizes and classifies the basic features and function of core region and its hinterland . It is quite innovative. Secondly, in the research methods. A large quantity of statistics data and calculation analysis is used widely. The theory is combined with the practice, and the nature is combined with the quantity. Thus the research becomes reasonable and reliable. Thirdly, in the practices. The existing issues of Jinan city in development are found out. Regarding the development coordination of core region and its hinterland, five strategies are proposed by this article. Namely, large city economic circle strategy, innovation first strategy, sustainable development strategy, spatial integration strategy and economic globalization strategy. Finally, the writer proposes the countermeasures for coordinating the development between the core region and its hinterland with the urban area. Namely to construct the perfect city-rural system, to promote municipalization, to accelerate the infrastructure construction of the core region, to abroad the city space reasonably and to optimize the industry structure and layout.
