A Study Of The Regional Difference And Regional Coordination In The Western Area

This paper synthesizes the west area where considers the factors such as the geography district position and national area development and level of economic growth and studies, what point is that position is on Chinese continent west, still include a region of Mongolia and GuangXi, its territory area takes the 71.4% of nation-wide, in 2000, end population takes 27.4%, gross domestic product takes 18.6%.Regional difference and coordination has been the key problem of regional economics and a problem that is cared commonly in the economic development of the world. Reducing the regional gap and realizing regional economic coordinative development is the basic goal that the central government handles the economic problems in the western area. The 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has put forward " advancing the Western Development actively, promoting regional economy to develop coordinately". In this macroeconomics background, obviously the study has important theoretical and realistic meaning.From the view of economics and by using systematic theory and game theory, this paper makes an analysis of the present situation of the regional difference in the western area as well as the reasons that have caused this situation, and proposes a thought of the macro-economic policy of the regional coordination of the western area.The main points of this paper are as follows:1. On the basis of the index system for the regional difference appraisal, the difference is analyzed and its scope is defined through establishing mathematics model, together with the comparison with the eastern and middle part of China. By using plenty of full and accurate data information, the situation of the difference of the western area is described and analyzed including developing capacity, professional department, industrial structure, industrialization level and foreign economic relations, etc.2. This paper also makes an analysis on the tendency of the change of difference in the western area: change tendency of industrial structural, of foreign direct investment and of economic benefits and this provides realistic basis for studying the difference of the western area and realizes the coordination of regional economy.3.For the reasons of the western area difference, this paper makes a discussion the duration and certainty from the aspects of regional difference, economic productivity, investment benefit ratio difference, human capital accumulation difference and influence on GDP from foreign direct investment etc.4.The paper makes a research on the necessity of realization of coordinate development in the western area, through establishing the game models of resource exploitation and environmental protection, repeated investment and similar industrial structure, and the influence of the local government officials upon economical development, and combining other relevant theories with regional economic coordinate development.5.Coordinating the actual condition of the western regional economic development and foreign experience, a route of applying various models comprehensively is found out. The border trade and foreign trade should be advocated and the west area should develop in the direction of cooperating the eastern area, the mid area and the western area. Then the economy of the western area can develop harmoniously. At the same time, the necessary regional economic policies on realizing regional coordination are proposed and the according system should be established.
