Because of increasing market competition and rapid change of customer's requirements, people in manufacturing enterprises searched after how to improve the tradition model of product design & production in order to improve the efficiency of product development by fully using the current resource of enterprise. As a result, Product Data Management (PDM) had been come forth. With the development of enterprise information technology, manufacturing enterprises pressed for that PDM could extend to the entire product life cycle. Bill of Material(BOM) is the bridge of information integration in product life cycle whose management has a great effect on PDM system. BOM management includes BOM structure management& BOM configuration management. This thesis firstly researches the basic theory about BOM management. The connotation of BOM has been expanded, and author considers that BOM is multi-object which is composed of sub-object relating to product structure. BOM conclude BOM reality and BOM sub- reality, BOM reality reflects the architecture of the product, BOM sub- reality includes attributes of objects in BOM reality and the relation relating to BOM n reality. This dissertation also discusses method of BOM configuration and design and evolvement for BOM in product life cycle. Author's research focuses on Designing BOM(DBOM) Changing to Manufacturing BOM(MBOM) in PDM, the basic model for BOM management is brought forward.The functional model and information model are built with IDEF base on the basic model for BOM management. This dissertation thoroughly analyzes the key modules of BOM management. The solution for computer coding is brought forth, and the dynamic model of process management is put forward, and the solution for static privilege management and dynamic privilege management is brought forward. This thesis also researches key technology for BOM management, such as software technology, control technology, traversal algorithm and security technology etc.At last,as the verification to the forward researching,the operation examples of ChangAnPDM and MIT PDM/PLM3.0 are given which are developed by author. Our researching results are reliable by analyzing the running effects of software.
