The Study On Contingency Management Theory

Contingency management theory is the management theory that takes shape in 1960's and becomes prevalent for a time in 1970's and 1980's in western countries. This thesis intends to carry out a rather systematic scrutiny and research on the theory from the perspective combining management and management philosophy, hence demonstrates its theory value, practical significance and limitations objectively and comprehensively, and investigates the inspiration that it would bring to Chinese enterprise management of today. In methodology, this thesis tried to use the logic train of thought applied by Marx in studying Capital as the fundamental method, striving to restructure the logic frame which will be able to reflect appropriately the contingency theory. For this reason, this thesis extracted several abstract regulations which are the most important for this theory's shaping and development from lots of documents of contingency theory, and taking these abstract regulations as the traces of linking up the full text. The thesis consists of three main parts. The first part is centered on the systematic scrutiny on the ideology of contingency management theory. The second part is focused on the philosophical observation on the theory and its development history. The third part is focused on evaluating the theory and investigating its inspiration to Chinese enterprise management of today.
